Celebrating the First International Tai Chi Day: Tracing the Roots of the Yang School in Yanmenzhai Village

3月21日上午，河北省太极拳协会理事、杨式太极拳第五代传人焦法存带队，赴闫门寨村开展题为“庆首个国际太极拳日 寻杨门根脉闫门寨村”的文旅行主题活动。

On the morning of March 21, Jiao Facun, a council member of the Hebei Tai Chi Association and the fifth-generation inheritor of Yang-style Tai Chi, led a delegation to Yanmenzhai Village to conduct a cultural tourism activity titled "Celebrating the First International Tai Chi Day: Tracing the Roots of the Yang School in Yanmenzhai Village."

 

 

 

 

 

 

在闫门寨村杨露禅故居北屋的“杨露禅出生地”标牌前，焦法存、唐建军应邀分别以中英文进行双语主持。来宾代表孙业腾、何昌勇、郝瑞军、胡天红先后致辞。拳友郭怀周、冀建国演练了杨式太极拳，韩延科演练了杨式太极剑和太极抖大杆儿，郭怀周乘兴演练了杨式太极刀，郝瑞军、焦法存演练了太极拳定步单双推手；邢建伟、赵彦宏、贾立新等人依次分享了各自习练太极拳的经历与感悟，尤其南非友人Derek（德瑞克）及其朋友翻译唐建军对邯郸太极文化独到、有趣的双语分享环节，将整个活动推向了高潮，得到了现场人员的一致好评。随后，一行13人又到杨庄村盘古庙进行文化深度寻根。最后，焦法存简要总结了本次活动、提出了下步建议。活动在现场人员阵阵掌声中圆满结束。

In front of the "Yang Luchan Birthplace" plaque in the northern building of Yang Luchan's former residence in Yanmenzhai Village, Jiao Facun and Tang Jianjun were invited to deliver bilingual presentations in Chinese and English respectively. Guest representatives Sun Yeteng, He Changyong, Hao Ruijun, and Hu Tianhong delivered speeches in succession. Martial arts enthusiasts Guo Huaizhou and Ji Jianguo demonstrated Yang-style Tai Chi, while Han Yankuo showcased Yang-style Tai Chi sword techniques and Tai Chi pole shaking. Guo Huaizhou enthusiastically demonstrated Yang-style Tai Chi saber, with Hao Ruijun and Jiao Facun performing Tai Chi fixed-step push hands exercises. Xing Jianwei, Zhao Yanhong, Jia Lixin, and others shared their Tai Chi practice experiences and insights. Particularly noteworthy was the bilingual presentation by South African participant Derek and his interpreter Tang Jianjun, which vividly highlighted Handan's Tai Chi culture and brought the event to a climax, earning unanimous praise from attendees. The 13-member delegation then visited Yangzhuang Village's Pangu Temple for cultural heritage exploration. Jiao Facun concluded the event with a concise summary and proposed future initiatives, concluding amidst enthusiastic applause from the audience.

了解，去年11月5日联合国教科文组织大会第43届会议在乌兹别克斯坦撒马尔罕通过决议，将每年3月21日设立为“国际太极拳日”(International Taijiquan Day)。这是联合国系统首个以武术项目命名的国际日，标志着太极拳这一中华传统体育瑰宝的重要价值获得全球广泛认可，是全球文明倡议的生动实践，对提升人类健康福祉、推动文明交流互鉴、促进世界和平发展具有十分重要的意义和作用。

According to reports, on November 5 last year, the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference adopted a resolution in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, designating March 21 as "International Taijiquan Day." This marks the first international day in the United Nations system named after a martial arts discipline, signifying global recognition of the profound value of Taijiquan—a treasure of traditional Chinese sports. It serves as a vivid embodiment of the Global Civilization Initiative and holds significant importance in enhancing human health and well-being, promoting cultural exchange and mutual learning, and advancing world peace and development.
